GeoConcept SA of France have created a series of discount-priced Education Packs specifically for Research and Training Institutions. These Education Packs make it easy for Teaching and Research Institutions to acquire and use GIS packages to train scientists and managers in the application and use of Geographical Information Systems. The GeoConcept Internet Server (GCIS) is included in the Education Pack. These Education Packs are intended, obviously, only for non-commercial applications.

The Education Pack includes a number of discrete software packages - in particular :

GeoConcept GIS "Expert" (for digitising and editing maps (including creating intersections of polygons and lines, creating islands, reducing the number of nodes along lines, etc.), making thematic displays, doing shortest path or isochrone analyses, creating buffers and intersecting them, changing the way any single map-object appears, ad hoc, geocoding for rapid retrieval, displaying GPS locations, creating attractive page-layouts and printing maps, saving work for later, etc.

GCIS (GeoConcept Internet Server) - which allows you to use a web browser to view previously created maps, to create thematic maps ad-hoc, or even to edit maps remotely.

3D Module - Software for 3-D visualisation.

Image Module - for analysing Remotely-sensed Imagery (includes a raster-vector convertor).

Publisher Module - Produces Atlas-quality maps in Postscript - very necessary for publication of maps; and something that a professional GIS analyst really can use - this is unique to GoeConcept.

Geo-Miner - A Spatial Data-mining module (enables spatial correlation of the attribute data of map-objects); This too is unique with GC. The freely distributable Multi-Viewer - which can be used to View, Zoom, Query and Print GeoConcept maps - without any purchase at all;Three different Development Kits - (programmeable in VC++ or VB), for the GeoConcept GIS, for the Internet Server, and for the Routing module.
